Christ Is Victor
"He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee." - Luke 24:6
Just think about it. What might be your worst enemy? A terrifying power which makes you to shiver. A reality which you deliberately try to avoid as a non existent. You want it to be an old forgotten folk tale.
One famous old Irish poem starts with these words, "Sorrow is the worst thing in life." Sorrow is distress caused by loss, affliction, disappointment, etc. It's grief, sadness, or regret. All who have already lost a loved one at one time or another concede that nothing might be as sorrowful as one which has been caused by death. Sorrow is a kind of felling that of hard deep lasting punch in one's belly. Its heaviness is expressed vividly in this words of William Shakespeare, "Every one can master a grief but he that has it." Sorrow is a torture within a soul.
Death is our worst enemy. Nothing could give us much relief than seeing this ever living monster being conquered. And that's what Jesus did. He defeated death and nullify its power. Anyone who believes in him will live, even after dying. He is the resurrection and the life. Jesus is victor. He practically showed us death can be defeated. Therefore we have an assurance that we can also be truly resurrected by the same power.
"For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either." - 1 Corinthians 15:16
